In Memoriam
I already scarcely remember what he said to me in all the years of his loving companionship. I cannot now recall what he said to me, even when a short while ago we had exchanged cards in a game of écarté, which he won. All those sensations that had recently been, seem lost, forgotten, at a distance or obsolete. If I remember him, I will be undone because then I will know that I cannot exist without him. N.

You will soon remember him again and find comfort when you do, my dear Nannerl. The memories will surface again, as your grieving emotions gradually calm down into a semblance of peace. I admit, I do not say this from personal experience, but from what others say. Take heart; play some of your brother's music and think of him. Play some of your own compositions too and do a little improvising. That is always good for the soul. Dodo

My Distinct and not Extinct Dodo,
Upon my soul, I shall decorate a figured bass, perfect a sonata by Wolfie and pick up my quill to compose when my domestic duties permit. Your advice is as ever, wise. I hope you live by it as well.
Yours,
Nan
Yes, I do live by it as well: improvise or read through a fugue or sonata on the fortepiano, or play my harp a little in the hour before retiring: O'Carolan airs and some Baroque easy arrangements!
yours
Dodo
